Tarantula
Smashing Pumpkins Unveil Bloody Album Artwork Album cover by Shepard Fairey, one of my favorite artists

Beloved Billy released the new Smashing Pumpkins single "Tarantula" yesterday. I like it and all, with its stripped down, garagey-recording sound. But as nice as the production is, the song itself is lacking something. A hook perhaps. It's just not as catchy as I was hoping it would be. I wasn't like, "WOW," after I finished listening to it. I was like, "Meh." Tarantula's okay, I like the heavy guitar sound, and I bet it's going to sound great live and loud loud loud like Billy likes it, but I cannot give this four stars. I hope the rest of Zeitgeist is . . . better. Sorry Billy. But just like your dating Courtney Love, you can do better.

 Yum.

By the way, the Pumpkins are not playing only those helacious gigantic summer tour things. They are going to play nine shows at the Filmore in San Francisco (yay!) as well as eight shows down in Ashville, North Carolina. Now that's more like it. Billy and Jimmy Chamberlain will play with two new mystery bandmembers, who will be introduced tonight at the Pumpkins' first show in seven years at the Paris Le Grand Rex Theatre. It's a venue that seats only 2700 people. Check out the beauty of this place. I bet it will be a fine show.
